IATR Announces 33rd Annual (Virtual) Conference:
“Resilient Regulation!”
October 26-29, 2020

These past six months have been very difficult for so many people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, including the members of the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) and licensed industries. Due to the uncertainty surrounding a possible resurgence of the COVID-19 in the Fall of 2020, coupled with many IATR government regulator members being required to cancel all travel for this year, the IATR had no choice but to reschedule its 33rd Annual Conference, originally scheduled for September 22–25, 2020, in Memphis, Tennessee. The good news is that the IATR has officially moved its Memphis conference to September 22–25 in 2021. Inspired by the resiliency that has been on full display by all of the essential workers in the transportation sector—including our public servant regulators, business owners, and, especially, the drivers on the front lines. The virtual conference will be held from Monday, October 26 through Thursday, October 29, 2020.

The 4th Annual Regulator Boot Camp starts off the program with training sessions addressing data access and use, a primer on micro-mobility regulation (covering e-scooters, dockless bikes, and e-bike share systems), and a primer on Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). Day 1 of the virtual conference starts with the Global Regulator Spotlight, which will present regulators who have taken new and innovative approaches to regulate, and features the 5th Annual Hack-A-Thon, which, this year, was a challenge to analyze data from two cities to find “micro-transit” opportunities for the taxicab industry and regulators. Day 2 will feature the release of the proposed IATR Model Regulations for COVID-19 Health, Safety, and Resiliency, which will address scenarios that create contingency plans for future crises and prepare the industry for a resurgence of COVID-19 and includes such topics as vehicle cleanliness, personal protective equipment, vehicle partitions, COVID-19 testing, agency operations, and industry aid/relief. Day 3 will feature presentations from the IATR committees discussing Technology and Innovation, Accessible Transport, Safety, and TNC Regulations and a presentation from the Canadian Regulators Committee.

Event registration closed.
